Scarlet & Gray Golf Course (formerly Rio Bravo Country Club) Prepares to Cease All Operations
Following Deadlocked Emergency Court Proceedings
Bakersfield, CA – August 21, 2026 – Ownership of the historic Rio Bravo Country Club (recently
operating as Scarlet & Gray Golf Course) announced today that the facility will begin winding down all
operations, with a complete closure anticipated to be imminent due to severe financial distress, active
foreclosure proceedings, and the failure to execute an emergency corporate rescue deal in Kern County
Superior Court.
Despite months of exhaustive efforts by owner Jeremy Willer to secure an emergency private sale
structure that would have paid off outstanding lienholders, satisfied defaulting debt, preserved the golf
course for the Bakersfield community, and protected over $1.5 million in family real estate equity, coowner
Kimberly Willer and counsel refused to execute the court stipulation during today’s emergency Ex
Parte hearing.
Because the property faces an active multi-million note default and pending foreclosure actions, Jeremy
Willer can no longer ethically or financially subsidize daily operations or absorb ongoing liabilities for a
corporate asset currently stalled in family court deadlock.
“We brought a fully funded, viable buyer to the table to save this historic community asset, pay off all
pressing debts, and ensure that every party walked away whole,” said Jeremy Willer. “Unfortunately,
when one party chooses personal obstruction over basic fiduciary duty and economic reality, the math
simply runs out. I cannot continue to fund a business that is being actively forced into foreclosure.”
Impact of Operational Shutdown:
Golf Operations & Facility Access: All tee times, clubhouse facilities, and maintenance
operations will begin immediate wind-down protocols.Lien & Foreclosure Status: Management will begin transferring operational records to secured
noteholders as formal foreclosure and asset liquidation processes take their legal course.Corporate Asset Liquidation: The collapse of the rescue transaction forfeits community equity
and triggers unmitigated foreclosure actions across associated residential real estate holdings in
both California and Canada.
Ownership expresses its deepest gratitude to the members, staff, groundskeepers, and local golfers who
have supported the course throughout its historic tenure in Bakersfield. Further operational updates
regarding gate closures will be communicated to members directly.
